Kissy’s Stay Put Services (KSP) is a nonprofit organization that exists to provide essential support services to women in Minnesota that have been incarcerated and have experienced domestic violence or sexual abuse. Kissy’s Stay Put Services is committed to better understanding the circumstances that have contributed to incarceration and providing the person served with needed community support to safely lead a productive life. All services are delivered with dignity and respect.
Kissy's Stay Put Services meets women’s needs by using client-centered approaches and trauma-informed care. We strive to help women experience healthy, safe, and equitable relationships by building communities free of domestic violence, one woman at a time.

Racial Disparities-Who is Being Arrested & Why

A racial/ethnic disparity in arrest rates between Black and White persons is well documented. Black individuals are disproportionately arrested and imprisoned compared to that of the White population.

The number of women in Minnesota’s prisons has increased more than nine fold, from 76 in 1978 to 734 in 2017.
Most people think that domestic violence is a private, family matter and choose not to get involved. However, domestic violence impacts a community in surprising ways. You can make a difference!

Track how many women were charged with domestic abuse to an intimate partner

Ask prosecuting attorneys to offer a stay of adjudication or imposition after completion of domestic abuse programming that Kissy’s Stay Put Services offers

Ask other domestic and sexual violence agencies to track the same information for women being charged with domestic violence on an intimate partner

Create policies and practices that meet specific needs of women and their families who are involved with the criminal justice system

Offer domestic abuses classes or programming to women who will be returning back to the community from incarceration
